TBR: April 2017

I bought so many books in March, which means that April will be a busy time for me!

Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I received this book in my FairyLoot box this month. It’s something I’ve been anticipating because so many people have been hyped for this book. And then review copies started going out and the praise of this book only got better. It’s a tome of a book and I’m thinking I will read it for the TomeToppleReadaton.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

I’ve had this book on my shelf for a while and I have always intended to start this series but I pushed this towards the top of my TBR when I got my hands on a signed copy of the Song Rising, Shannon’s newest book. I’m so excited to get started!

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

Since I’m new to book blogging, you don’t know that I adore Neil Gaiman and his books. When this book was on pre-order I had to restrain myself from ordering it – but then I went to Brighton for the day, went to the Waterstones and saw it in person. And it’s beautiful. So I had to get it.

Empress of A Thousand Skies by Rhiannon Thomas

I know this came out about a month ago, and I think I’ve probably had it since the week it came out, but I just hadn’t been able to get around to reading it. But seeing it on my bookshelf every day has just made it a constant reminder that I need to read it, so I’m going to do that!

A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab

I read A Darker Shade of Magic last month and I adored it. I can’t believe if took me so long to read this series, or any of V. E. Schwab’s books to be honest. She’s such a talented writer. So I’m making it my goal to read at least one of her books each month until I’ve run out. This month, it’s A Gathering of Shadows!

The Valiant by Lesley Livingston

People have been speaking about this book for ages now and I have such high hopes for the greatness. Warrior women, revenge plots, and Ancient Rome as a backdrop – what’s not to like?

I also have some books that NetGalley have approved for me to read and review!

Ballad of the Beanstalk by Amy McNulty

I wasn’t too sure about this book when I requested it, but I’ve been in such a ‘retelling’ sort of mood. A Jack and the Beanstalk retelling is something so new that I’m very interested to see how Amy McNulty goes about handling this. (To be published April 11th).

Girls Can’t Hit by Tom Easton

I’ll be honest, I requested this with the hopes of something wonderfully feminist. Girls and boxing, a synopsis that speaks about determination and becoming more than yourself. This just sounds like badass strong women going about their business of fighting gender norms and I’m excited to start! (To be published April 20th).

What books are you planning on reading in April? Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? If so, what did you think? Tell me in the comments!
