I have a lot of books on my TBR list, mostly because I can’t stop buying books but also because Sci-Fi and Fantasy books are some of my favourites to read! I did a quick look at my bookshelf and I think I have my top 5! If you want more Top 5 Wednesdays content, you can check out the Goodreads group here.

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel

This is a Sci-Fi story about Rose, who rides her bike off a cliff side and finds a giant metal hand. Years later, strange artifacts are being found now Rose is the head of the group attempting to unravel the secrets of the world’s biggest mystery. I got myself a copy of this recently (yesterday actually) and I cannot wait to start reading it!

The Bear And The Nightingale by Katherine Arden25493853

A retelling of a Russian fairytale, this is a story that follows Vasilia when her stepmother refuses to allow her to honor the spirits of her household and those spirits are now causing misfortune to all those in the village. Vasilia must “defy those she loves and call on gifts long concealed”. I love retellings of fairytales and I love the cover of this book so I’m totally hyped to read it!

9221793The Demon King by Cinda Williams China

BookTubers like PeruseProject have been hyping on about this book series since I started watching them so I gave in and bought the first book. Set in a High Fantasy world, this first book in the Seven Realms Series has the lives of a thief and princess colliding and “fanning the flames” of war between clans and wizards. I’m so interested in giving this series ago and I can’t wait to read through The Demon King’s 500+ pages.

The Bone Season by Samatha Shannon17199504

This is already on my April TBR list, so I’ve already explained why I want to read this book. This is the first book in Shannon’s ‘The Bone Season’ series and follows Paige Mahoney, a girl with clairvoyance which is deemed treason in her world. Over the course of the story, she is kidnapped and imprisoned and must use everything at her disposal to gain her freedom.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

This is a book I bought a while ago that I still haven’t gotten around to reading. It was sold to me as a book with a brilliant world, interesting magic system, and an awesome female friendship. Truthwitch is about two witches, Safiya and Iseult who end up being caught in the middle of a war that rising between neighboring nations and must fight emperors and mercenaries to keep their freedom. I also have the sequel Windwitch that I intend to move on to as soon as I finish Truthwitch.
